Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe the anatomical and functional outcome of verteporfin ocular photodynamic therapy (PDT) in erou retinal detachment caued by the diffue retinal pigment epitheliopathy form of chronic idiopathic central erou chorioretinopathy.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A 48-year-old Caucaian man with unilateral exudative retinal detachment from diffue retinal pigment epitheliopathy and viual acuity of 20/40 wa managed with verteporfin PDT applied equentially in three eparate pot targeting all retinal pigment epithelium leak identified with intravenou fluorecein angiography (IVFA). Outcome meaure included viual acuity, biomicrocopic appearance, and leakage on IVFA.
etting
Clinical practice.
Reult
ubretinal fluid reolved within 2 week; viual acuity returned to 20/20 with no recurrence at 6 month of follow-up. There wa no leakage on IVFA pottreatment and no obviou toxicity.
Concluion
To our knowledge, thi i the firt report of PDT cauing reolution of macular detachment in diffue retinal pigment epitheliopathy. It long-term reult with regard to the prognoi of the dieae and the recurrence rate remain to be evaluated.
