Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the outcome of frontali upenion urgery for congenital ptoi uing autogenou facia lata for children under 3 year of age.
Deign
Retropective nonrandomized interventional cae erie.
Method
Thi tudy included nine children (14 eyelid) with evere congenital ptoi aged le than 3 year. All patient underwent frontali upenion urgery uing autogenou facia lata. Potoperative lid level reult, ptoi recurrence, and cometic appearance of leg car were evaluated after the operation.
Reult
The mean age of the patient wa 15.3 month (range, 6 month to 2.5 year) with a mean follow-up period of 41.6 month (range, 18 to 96 month). All children achieved atifactory cometic and functional reult, with no potoperative complication uch a wound infection, corneal expoure, eyelid contour abnormalitie, or ptoi overcorrection. No recurrence of ptoi wa encountered. Harveting wa not difficult, and a ufficient amount of material wa achieved. There wa one patient (11.1%) with a hypertrophied leg car.
Concluion
Frontali upenion uing autogenou facia i propoed a a poible procedure for correcting congenital ptoi in children younger than 3 year of age. It appear to be an effective and feaible treatment for children with poor levator mucle function in thi age group.
