  • Abstract
Purpoe To evaluate the blood flow velocity in the ophthalmic artery uing color Doppler imaging in two patient who had diabetic retinopathy with amauroi fugax caued by orthotatic hypotenion. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 40-year-old woman (Cae 1) and a 65-year-old man (Cae 2) had diabetic retinopathy and amauroi fugax caued by orthotatic hypotenion. We evaluated the blood flow velocity in the ophthalmic artery uing color Doppler imaging in the two patient. etting Department of Ophthalmology, Diabete Center Tokyo Womenʹ Medical Univerity, Tokyo, Japan. Reult For Cae 1, the maximum ytolic blood flow velocity in the ophthalmic artery (V max) wa 10 cm/ec in the upine poition. In a eated poition, viual acuity wa decreaed from 20/20 to light perception a V max fell to 1 cm/ec. For Cae 2, the V max wa 14 cm/ec in the upine poition, but it wa too low to meaure in a eated poition. Concluion The decreae of V max by orthotatic hypotenion may caue amauroi fugax in patient with diabetic retinopathy.
