Deign Cliniciopathological report Method A donor eye with a confirmed 181C mutation in the TIMP-3 gene and an age-matched normal donor eye were tudied uing in itu hybridization technique with MMP -2 and -9 and TIMP -1, -2, and -3 probe. Reult There i a reduction of mRNA expreion of MMP-2 and TIMP-3 in the orby retinal pigment epithelium cell. Concluion Increaed expreion of TIMP-3 mRNA doe not caue accumulation of TIMP-3 in the Bruch membrane of orby fundu dytrophy nor i it likely to caue age-related macular degeneration.
