Reidual triamcinolone acetonide in the macular hole after vitrectomy

Purpoe To report a cae of vitrectomy uing intraocular triamcinolone acetonide (TA), in which TA remained in the macular hole after urgery. Deign Obervational cae report. Method A 60-year-old Japanee man had a tage II macular hole in the right eye with bet-corrected viual acuity of 20/50. A par plana vitrectomy uing TA wa performed. Viual acuity and anatomic reult were followed up for a period of 8 week. Reult On the ixth potoperative day, reidual TA depoition wa oberved in the macular hole. On the 14th potoperative day, no reidual TA wa found and the macular hole wa uccefully cloed. The bet-corrected viual acuity of the right eye improved to 20/15. Concluion Reidual TA in the macular hole after vitrectomy did not interfere with macular hole repair either anatomically or functionally.
