Deign We preent an interventional conecutive cae erie of patient who underwent cleral buckling urgery uing hydrogel explant from 4 to 14 year before onet of clinical ymptom. etting Thi i a retropective, multicenter clinical tudy. Patient population: 17 eye of 15 patient preented with thi diorder. All patient were examined; nellen acuity, ocular motility, tonometry, lit lamp, and fundu examination were recorded. Two patient underwent either computed tomography or magnetic reonance imaging. Removal of the hydrogel explant wa attempted in all patient. Removal of the buckle wa technically difficult; the hydrogel material wa fragile and fragmented when handled. Reult All patient had prompt relief of pain and dicomfort. Ocular motility and diplopia were greatly improved. Extraocular mucle urgery wa not required in any cae. Three eye had intraoperative eye wall perforation. One eye developed potoperative bacterial endophthalmiti. Five eye had recurrence of retinal detachment. One eye had additional complication of corneal edema and glaucoma. Concluion Patient who develop thi clinical condition hould be conidered for removal of the hydrogel cleral buckle. Early recognition of thi condition may prevent eriou complication aociated with delayed removal.
