Abstract
Purpoe
We report on a new technique to peel the internal limiting membrane (ILM) uing triamcinolone acetonide (TA) to facilitate viualization during urgery.
Deign
Interventional cae erie.
Method
In four eye of four patient with macular hole, TA wa ued during vitrectomy to viualize the hyaloid. After the poterior hyaloid wa urgically eparated from the optic nerve head and poterior retina, TA upenion wa injected over the poterior pole. Intraocular forcep wa ued to peel the ILM in a circumferential manner around the macular hole.
Reult
Numerou particle of TA were dipered over the poterior retina a white peck. Once the ILM wa peeled, the peeled area wa clearly viualized a an area lacking the white peck. In all patient, the macular hole cloed. No advere reaction were oberved during the 3-month follow-up period.
Concluion
TA-aited ILM peeling i an effective and afe technique for macular hole urgery.
