Purpoe To report a cae of bacterial endophthalmiti after otiti media in a healthy adult. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A healthy 49-year-old Caucaian woman developed acute otiti media of the right ear. Three week after the firt onet there wa a recurrence of the otiti media, with perforation of the tympanic membrane. Two day after thi, the woman preented at our clinic with endophthalmiti of the right eye. Reult A culture of vitreou material grew treptococcu pyogene (treptococcu Lancefield group A). The ame train wa found in a mear from the perforated ear. Depite aggreive treatment, the affected eye had to be evicerated. Concluion Otiti media can reult in a bacteremia. Thi may, even in a healthy adult, lead to a devatating endogenou bacterial endophthalmiti.
