Abstract :
Background To evaluate the intraocular concentration of triamcinolone acetonide after intravitreal injection. Method The propective clinical interventional cae erie tudy included 17 patient who had received a 20 to 25-mg intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide a treatment for exudative age-related macular degeneration, diffue diabetic macular edema, or retinal vein occluion. During a econdary intraocular urgery taking place 4.1 week to 25.7 month after the intravitreal injection, aqueou humor ample were obtained. None of the eye were vitrectomized. Reult In the aqueou humor ample, triamcinolone acetonide wa in low, but meaurable, concentration detected up to 1.5 year after the intravitreal injection. Concentration found in ample obtained during the firt 6 month, or 7 to 12 month, repectively, after the injection ranged between 3.0 μg/l and 436 μg/l, and between 0.0 μg/l and 11.2 μg/l, repectively. Concluion After injection of triamcinolone acetonide, triamcinolone can be preent in meaurable concentration up to 1.5 year after the application.
