Abstract :
Purpoe
To report a cae of conjunctival-corneal intraepithelial neoplaia (CCIN) in an elderly African American patient treated with topical mitomycin C and the ubequent complication of limbal tem cell deficiency.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A 92-year-old African American woman wa diagnoed with CCIN in the right eye. Following inciional biopy, the patient received five 1-week coure of 0.04% mitomycin C and wa followed over a period of 10 month.
Reult
The CCIN regreed completely following mitomycin C therapy. Three month later, the patient developed recurrent nonhealing epithelial defect in the right cornea.
Concluion
Conjunctival-corneal intraepithelial neoplaia may occur in the African American population. Although MMC i effective in eradicating CCIN, a limbal tem cell deficiency may complicate the treatment.
