Deign
Interventional cae erie.
Method
The medical record of five patient who were cared for in an intitutional practice between 1987 and 2002 were retropectively reviewed. All patient had unuual donor ite finding dicovered during or after hard palate mucoal grafting for eyelid or ocket recontruction.
Reult
even eyelid recontruction with hard palate graft were performed on the five patient (three male, two female), with an age range of 14 to 73 year at urgery. Patient were followed for an average of 6 year (range: 9 month to 11 year). Unuual hard palate finding during urgery or the potoperative period included hard palate and maxillary inu malignancy, toru palatinu, and peritent donor ite bleeding that provoked gatric variceal bleeding in a patient with preexiting liver dieae. Atypical urgical technique included both inadvertent and intentional harveting of hard palate tiue over the midline palatine raphe.
Concluion
Hard palate grafting i a ucceful and commonly practiced approach to eyelid and ocket recontruction. An awarene of unuual anatomic finding or technique aociated with the hard palate donor ite may improve urgical outcome and decreae patient morbidity.
