Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the role of ultraonography (U) and color Doppler imaging (CDI) in the diagnoi of orbital tumor in children. Deign Retropective nonrandomized interventional cae erie. Method Thi tudy included 42 children with intraorbital and periorbital tumor who were evaluated in our clinic. All children underwent a complete clinical evaluation a well a orbital U and CDI. The children then underwent operation or were followed up, baed on the clinical diagnoi and the finding on the imaging modalitie. Reult The mean age of the patient at diagnoi wa 22.5 month (range 2 week–14 year old). Eighteen patient (12 female and 6 male) were diagnoed with hemangioma baed on the finding in U and CDI; 16 patient (9 female and 7 male) were diagnoed with dermoid, 5 patient (4 female and 1 male) with lymphangioma, 2 patient with rhabdomyoarcoma, and 1 patient with a ubperiotal abce. Twenty-two patient underwent operation, and the diagnoi wa confirmed on pathology. Twenty patient did not undergo operation and continued to be followed up in the clinic (mean follow-up period 38.2 month). The dieae coure in all patient who did not undergo operation wa conitent with the working diagnoi. Concluion Both U and CDI are ueful modalitie in the diagnoi of intraorbital and periorbital tumor in the pediatric age group.
