Abstract :
Purpoe
To explore a clinically oberved aociation between central erou chorioretinopathy (CC) and gatroeophageal reflux dieae (GERD)
Deign
A retropective cae-control tudy.
Participant and control
ixty-nine conecutive patient diagnoed with CC were compared with a control group of 55 non-CC patient.
Method
The record of 69 patient with CC were retropectively reviewed and compared with the record of 55 control. All patient and control were examined in a referral etting.
Reult
Patient with CC were ignificantly more likely to have GERD compared with control (odd ratio 6.05; 95% confidence interval 2.14–17.11; P = .0003). Central erou chorioretinopathy patient were alo more likely than control to have ued oral corticoteroid medication (odd ratio 16.30; 95% confidence interval 2.09–127.33; P = .0006) and antacid/antireflux medication (odd ratio 15.00; 95% confidence interval 1.91–117.58; P = .001).
Concluion
Thi tudy identifie an aociation between CC and GERD. There are biochemical factor common to both dieae that upport thi aociation, giving further inight into the pathogenei of CC.
