Abstract :
Purpoe To report clinical and immunologic apect of cancer-aociated retinopathy (CAR). Deign Obervational conecutive cae erie. Method A retropective review wa made of 18 conecutive patient with cancer-aociated retinopathy who had antiretinal antibody determination by Wetern blot teting. Reult Clinically, a variety of ophthalmic obervation including electroretinography impairment, retinal veel narrowing, deterioration of viual acuity, viual field change, and uveiti were frequently oberved. A retinal autoantigen in the 18 cae, recoverin wa found in all 18 cae (100%), heat hock cognate protein 70 (HC70) wa found in ix cae (33%), and other protein were found in four cae (20%). Thee antibodie were detected in only 60% of the patient at the initial examination, however, and then became increaingly apparent on the ubequent teting that wa performed three time on erum ample obtained equentially during the following month. Concluion For diagnoi of cancer-aociated retinopathy, the preence of erum autoantibody toward recoverin i eentially required in addition to the characteritic clinical apect noted above.
