Abstract :
Purpoe To invetigate the morphologic appearance on optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the macula in patient with late olar retinopathy and it aociation with viual acuity. Deign Obervational cae erie. Method All patient with olar retinopathy evaluated between 1998 and 2003 at one intitution were invited to participate in an ophthalmic evaluation. Reult In all four affected eye of four patient, OCT demontrated abnormal reflectivity at the outer foveal retina, uch a fragmentation or interruption of the inner high reflective layer correponding to the junction between the photoreceptor inner and outer egment. Involvement of the entire photoreceptor reflective layer at the fovea wa oberved in the patient with decreaed viual acuity (20/60). Concluion Optical coherence tomography demontrated abnormalitie in the outer foveal retina. The OCT finding ugget that decreaed viual acuity may be aociated with full-thickne involvement of the photoreceptor
