Abstract
Purpoe
To report the incidence of acute endophthalmiti after triamcinolone acetonide–aited par plana vitrectomy (PPV).
Deign
A retropective multicenter interventional cae erie collected over 23 month.
Method
We retropectively reviewed the chart of all patient who underwent triamcinolone-aited PPV at even academic clinical center or eye hopital from January 2002 to November 2003.
Reult
Of a total of 1,886 cae, only 1 cae howed acute endophthalmiti due to taphylococcu epidermidi (0.053%). No other cae howed any ign of potoperative endophthalmiti.
Concluion
Intraoperative ue of triamcinolone during PPV i not a high rik factor for acute endophthalmiti.
