ucceful treatment of ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization aociated with combined hamartoma of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium

Purpoe To decribe a patient with ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization (CNV) aociated with combined hamartoma of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium (CHRRPE), treated uccefully by ubmacular urgery. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 12-year-old girl wa referred to our clinic for evaluation. Viual acuity wa 20/30 in the affected left eye. Ophthalmocopy dicloed juxtapapillary CHRRPE and ubfoveal pigmented CNV. Vitreou urgery wa carried out becaue of viual deterioration to 20/60. Reult The poterior vitreou wa trongly attached to glial tiue at the uperior margin of the optic dik in the CHRRPE region. The CNV, which wa not connected with the CHRRPE, wa carefully removed, reulting in viual improvement to 20/20 5 month after urgery. Hitologically, the excied membrane howed fibroblat-rich cellular component and a type 2 configuration. Concluion ubmacular urgery can be effective for the treatment of econdary CNV aociated with CHRRPE.
