Photodynamic therapy with verteporfin for anterior egment neovacularization in neovacular glaucoma

Purpoe To evaluate photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin for iri and angle neovacularization in eye with neovacular glaucoma. Deign Interventional cae erie. Method A propective, noncomparative cae erie included four patient (four eye) with neovacular glaucoma. PDT wa performed following the parameter of treatment of age-related macular degeneration with photodynamic therapy tudy Group (TAP). The laer wa directed at the anterior chamber angle and iri urface uing a Goldmann three-mirror contact len. Iri and angle neovacularization were quantified uing the number of clock hour involved. Outcome meaure were obliteration of neovacularization and decreae of intraocular preure (IOP). Reult One week after PDT, we regitered complete obliteration of angle neovacularization and partial occluion of iri neovacularization. ubequent reopening of angle neovacularization wa detectable at 1 month. Intraocular preure diminihed coniderably after 1 week, with a ubequent tendency toward tabilization. Concluion Photodynamic therapy can be ued afely and effectively in the early phae of neovacular glaucoma to achieve angle neovacularization obliteration and IOP reduction.
