Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the duration of the effect of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide on viual acuity in patient with diffue diabetic macular edema.
Deign
Clinical interventional cae erie.
Method
ubject were 31 patient (38 eye) with diffue diabetic macular edema who received an intravitreal injection of 20- to 25-mg triamcinolone acetonide. Mean follow-up time wa 13.2 ± 6.0 month (6.03–25.2 month).
Reult
Viual acuity and intraocular preure began to increae ignificantly (P = .003) within the firt week, reaching a plateaulike maximum at 1 to 7 month potinjection, returning to baeline value 8 to 9 month potinjection.
Concluion
The effect of an intravitreal injection of approximately 20- to 25-mg triamcinolone acetonide in patient with diffue diabetic macular edema lat approximately 7 to 8 month. Thi information may be helpful in determining the optimal doage of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide for the treatment of diffue diabetic macular edema.
