Abstract :
Purpoe
To determine the incidence of ubequent retinal tear (RT) in patient who were previouly treated for acute poterior vitreou detachment (PVD)-related retinal tear.
Deign
Retropective chart review.
Method
A retropective chart review of 155 eye of 137 conecutive patient treated for acute PVD-related retinal tear wa performed.
Reult
During a median follow-up of 13 month (range 3 to 157 month) after treatment, RT developed in 19 (12.2%) of 155 treated eye. Mot of the RT occurred during the firt 6 month (12 of 19 eye) after initial treatment. ubequent vetinal tear developed within the firt 12 month in 15 of 19 treated eye, however only ix of 15 of thee eye were ymptomatic. Of thoe patient who developed RT after 12 month, all had new viual ymptom.
Concluion
Patient who preent with acute PVD-related retinal tear are at a low but ignificant rik for developing RT. A ignificant number of patient treated for PVD-aociated retinal tear preent within 1 year with RT without ymptom.
