Peudohypopyon after intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection for cytoid macular edema

Purpoe To report peudohypopyon after intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection for cytoid macular edema. Deign Retropective, noncomparative, conecutive cae erie. Method Record were reviewed of all patient who developed peudohypopyon after intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection at Bacom Palmer Eye Intitute between January 1, 2002 and February 1, 2004. Reult A total of 828 intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection were adminitered to 686 patient during the tudy period. A peudohypopyon (fine white crytalline opacitie in the inferior anterior chamber angle) and upended white crytalline opacitie in the aqueou humor developed after 7 of the 828 injection (0.8%); all peudohypopyon occurred within 3 day of injection and reolved completely within 2 week. None of the 686 patient developed clinically upected infectiou endophthalmiti. Concluion A tranient peudohypopyon may occur in the early potinjection period after intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection. Unle progreive intraocular inflammation occur, cloe obervational management i indicated.
