  • Abstract
    Purpoe To report a cae of embolic cilioretinal artery occluion caued by carotid artery diection. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 38-year-old woman preented with acute viual lo in her right eye. Funducopy howed a cilioretinal artery occluion, which wa confirmed by a fluorecein angiography. An embolu wa found in the dital egment of the veel. Reult Color Doppler image of right internal carotid artery (ICA) dicloed a peudolumen, uggeting a diagnoi of carotid diection. Retrobulbar color Doppler image howed relative low flow velocity in the ophthalmic artery without flow reveral. Magnetic reonance angiography and cerebral angiogram howed total occluion of the right ICA. Follow-up viual field examination revealed an inferior central defect fed by the cilioretinal artery. Concluion The pathogenei of retinal artery occluion caued by carotid diection may be embolic or hemodynamic. In our cae, a permanent viual defect wa related to embolic occluion of the cilioretinal artery.
