  • Abstract
Purpoe Neitz film-baed retroillumination camera, the tandard for documenting retroilluminated len opacitie for epidemiologic tudie, are no longer produced. A digital imaging ytem i now available for imaging thee opacitie. We ought to compare grading of image from both ytem. Deign Comparion of technique. Method One hundred fourteen lene were imaged with both ytem and graded according to protocol. Concordance between the method wa compared uing kappa tatitic. Reult There wa moderate concordance for cortical opacitie (κ = 0.63) and good concordance for poterior ubcapular opacitie (κ = 0.83). Grade from digital image lightly underetimated the frequency and everity of cortical cataract. Concluion Digital imaging of retroilluminated len opacitie reult in imilar claification of the everity of opacitie. It will be ueful for epidemiologic tudie of cortical (CC) and poterior ubcapular cataract (PC).
