Abstract :
The common form of adult-onet primary open-angle glaucoma i inherited a a complex trait, wherea the rarer early-onet juvenile open-angle glaucoma (JOAG) exhibit autoomal dominant inheritance. Of all cae of JOAG, approximately 10% to 20% are caued by mutation in the myocilin gene. The author have identified 25 pedigree that are affected with typical JOAG and that demontrate autoomal dominant inheritance. They equenced the myocilin gene in proband from each family and found mutation in 8% of that population. To identify novel gene reponible for JOAG, they ued familie that did not have myocilin mutinou for a genomewide creen. Marker located on chromoome 9q22 and 20p12 howed evidence for linkage, identifying two novel loci for early-onet open-angle glaucoma.—Han E. Groniklau
