Abstract
Purpoe
To report a cae of Propionibacterium acne endophthalmiti following uncomplicated cataract extraction with bacterial equetration in a preexiting Moltenoʹ drainage implant.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A 7-year-old girl with congenital glaucoma and a preexiting Moltenoʹ drainage implant developed anterior nongranulomatou uveiti 4 month following cataract urgery. P. acne endophthalmiti wa diagnoed by polymerae chain reaction, outhern blot, and electron microcopy.
Reult
Extraction of the Moltenoʹ implant wa required to control the peritent intraocular inflammation and to convert the reult of polymerae chain reaction and outhern blot teting of aqueou ample for P. acne from poitive to negative.
Concluion
P. acne may be equetered in glaucoma implant, potentially requiring implant removal to treat cae of P. acne endophthalmiti.
