Optic atrophy and macular degeneration a initial preentation of ubacute cleroing panencephaliti

Purpoe To report a cae of ubacute cleroing panencephaliti in which the initial clinical preentation were optic atrophy and macular degeneration. Deign Obervational cae report. Method A 9-year-old boy with viual lo attributable to optic atrophy and macular degeneration had a diagnotic examination. Reult The viual acuity level of both eye were light perception at preentation. Fundu examination revealed bilateral optic atrophy and macular degenerative change including retinal pigment epithelial atrophy, macular carring, and epiretinal membrane formation. The antimeale IgG titer were high both in erum and cerebropinal fluid ample. Neurologic ymptom of myoclonu, ataxia, motor, and mental diabilitie occurred 4 month after the onet of firt viual diturbance and 2 week after the patient applied to our clinic. Concluion Children with optic atrophy and macular degenerative leion hould be examined for cleroing panencephaliti, even if the claical neurologic ymptom of thi dieae are not preent.
