Abstract :
Purpoe
To report reult of implantation of the Ex-PRE Miniature Glaucoma Implant (Optonol, Neve Ilan, Irael) hunt directly under the conjunctiva in advanced glaucoma.
Deign
Noncomparative cae erie.
Method
Chart review of eleven cae of Ex-PRE implantation. Outcome meaure included intraocular preure (IOP), complication, viual acuity, and additional intervention. Failure wa defined a unacceptably high IOP requiring reviion or explantation.
Reult
Four patient (36%) failed. Ten (91%) experienced hypotony during potoperative week one. In the even nonfailure, mean pre and potoperative IOP were 30.3 ± 9.3 mm Hg and 13.6 ± 4.4 mm Hg, repectively (P = .006). The logMAR viual acuity did not change ignificantly from baeline to follow up (logMAR 1.1 ± 0.9 and 1.4 ± 0.9, repectively, P = .13). There were no intraoperative complication. Potoperative complication in the 11 eye included choroidal detachment in 3 (27%) and uprachoroidal hemorrhage in 2 (18%). Of the 7 ucceful cae, additional intervention were required in 4 (57%).
Concluion
Depite ignificant IOP reduction, the incidence of complication following Ex-PRE implantation directly under the conjunctiva wa unacceptably high in thi group of patient.
