Bilateral erou macular detachment following laer in itu keratomileui

Purpoe To report a cae of bilateral erou macular detachment following laer in itu keratomileui (LAIK). Deign Obervational cae report. Method A 33-year-old man preented with udden decreae of viion in both eye 4 day following uncomplicated LAIK in both eye for pherical equivalent of +5.00 diopter ph in the right eye and +7.00 diopter ph in the left eye. Detailed hitory with ocular and ytemic examination, fluorecein angiography, and optical coherence tomography were done. Retinal examination had a documentation of retinal pigment epithelium atrophy in the macular region in both eye pre-LAIK. Reult A diagnoi of central erou chorioretinopathy (CCR) wa made in both eye, with multifocal alteration in the retinal pigment epithelium and a pocket of erou retinal fluid in the macular region confirmed on OCT. Late venou phae of fluorecein angiogram demontrated multiple hyperfluorecent foci of leakage, more in the right eye with area of retinal pigment epithelium taining. Concluion Preexiting macular pathology, uch a retinal pigment epithelium atrophy could be a new contraindication to LAIK for hypermetropia with poible development of CCR, requiring a careful examination of the fundu pre-LAIK.
