Abstract :
Purpoe
To report an unuual, blinding inflicted eye injury in young children.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
Retropective tudy in an intitutional clinical practice of two familie in whom the proband had inferior half keratoconjunctiviti and additional ign of child abue.
Reult
Two unrelated infant preented with bilateral, aymmetrical, external eye dieae affecting the lower half of the cornea and conjunctiva. One eye had perforated. All eye recovered quickly while the patient were in the hopital with no pecific treatment. There were other ign of child abue detected by further tudie on the patient, and in one cae, the younger ibling wa the ubject of everely damaging phyical abue.
Concluion
Inflicted corneal injurie are nonpecific, and unexplained keratoconjunctiviti, epecially in the lower half of the conjunctiva and cornea in infant hould alert the clinician to the poibility child abue, but, by itelf cannot be taken a being pathognomonic of abue.
