Abstract :
Purpoe
To quantify ocular higher-order aberration (HOA) in eye with upernormal viion, that i, natural uncorrected viual acuity (UCVA) ≥ 20/15, to analyze the correlation between ocular HOA and age in thee eye, and to invetigate the correlation of HOA between right and left eye.
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
Ocular HOA were examined acro a naturally dilated pupil with a diameter ≥ 6.0 mm in 70 eye of 35 ubject with ≥ 20/15 UCVA (mean age 24.3 year ± 7.7 [D]) uing the Nidek OPD can wavefront aberrometer. Root-mean-quare (RM) value of HOA, total pherical aberration (TA), total coma (TC), and total trefoil (TT) were analyzed. Correlation analyi wa performed to ae the aociation between ocular HOA and age and the correlation of HOA between right and left eye.
Reult
Mean RM value were 0.334 ± 0.192 μm for HOA, 0.110 ± 0.077 μm for TA, 0.136 ± 0.081 μm for TC, and 0.268 ± 0.220 μm for TT. There were no ignificant difference in the mean value of HOA, TA, TC, and TT between right and left eye. The Pearon correlation coefficient between right and left eye for TA wa 0.764 (P<.0001). No ignificant correlation wa found between right and left eye for HOA, TC, and TT. No ignificant correlation wa found between each of the ocular aberration and age.
Concluion
The amount of ocular HOA in eye with natural upernormal viion i not negligible, and i comparable to the reported amount of HOA in myopic eye.
