Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate for which range of refractive error the optic dik ize depend on, or i independent of, the refractive error.
Deign
Clinical obervational tudy.
Method
The tudy included 1999 eye of 1011 ubject with a mean refractive error of −0.97 ± 2.72 diopter (range, −24.25 to +9.4 diopter). Optic dik photograph were morphometrically evaluated.
Reult
The relation between optic dik area and refractive error howed a curvilinear hape, with a teep increae toward high myopia tarting at −8 diopter, and a decreae toward high hyperopia tarting at +4 diopter.
Concluion
The optic dik ize depend on the refractive error with an increae in highly myopic eye beyond −8 diopter and a decreae in highly hyperopic eye beyond +4 diopter. Confirming hitomorphometric tudie, the limit of −8 diopter and +4 diopter may be dicued to refine the definition of high hyperopia and high myopia.
