“Finger-tip” cryoprobe aited enucleation

Purpoe To report the ue of a new cryotherapy probe to induce proptoi during enucleation urgery. Deign Interventional cae report. Method Two patient with uveal melanoma and econdary glaucoma were treated by enucleation. A large urface area (70 mm2), patulated, end-freezing cryotherapy probe (“Finger-tip” probe, MIRA, Inc.) wa ued to induce proptoi during optic nerve tranection. Reult Thi new probe offer homogeneou freezing over a relatively large urface area. Thi new cryoprobe wa ued to create a large cryo-adheion on the cornea, for an excellent purchae of the eye during enucleation urgery. Uing thi adheion, the eye wa lifted, enabling tranection of the optic nerve. Concluion Thi report include photograph of the cryoprobe, the corneal cryo-adheion, and decribe it ue for traction during enucleation urgery.
