Abstract
Purpoe
To report a patient whoe elf-inflicted blindne wa not clinically apparent by hitory or external ign of trauma.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
A 12-year-old girl with a hitory of ocial and behavioral problem wa noted to have viual lo in her right eye. Examination revealed no light perception, optic nerve atrophy, partial upper lid ptoi, exotropia, and hypoetheia of the cheek, all on her right ide.
Reult
After undergoing extenive examination which were unrevealing for a diagnoi, the patient admitted to a recurrent maneuver, which he ecretly ued to relieve anxiety and tre. Thi maneuver conited of inerting her index finger under the right upraorbital rim and forcibly ubluxating her globe out of the orbital pace.
Concluion
elf-inflicted viual lo can occur in nonpychotic and nonviolent patient. Accurate diagnoi i important, a there i a rik of imilar involvement to the fellow eye, and referral for pychiatric couneling i mandatory.
