Abstract
Purpoe
To aee the role of photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin in young patient with choroidal neovacularization (CNV) econdary to traumatic choroidal rupture.
Deign
Retropective cae erie.
Method
Of 26 eye with traumatic choroidal rupture followed ince 1984 at the retina ervice of univerity hopital, all eye diagnoed with CNV and treated with PDT were included. Medical record including comprehenive eye examination, retinal photography, and intravenou fluorecein angiography (IVFA) were tudied.
Reult
Five patient (mean age, 18 year) developed CNV and received an average of two PDT treatment. Three patient had improved viual acuity (VA), one remained table, and one experienced viual lo. Final IVFA howed abence of leakage in four eye and decreaed leakage in the eye with decreaed VA.
Concluion
In young patient, PDT may be a reaonable treatment for CNV econdary to choroidal rupture. No ocular or ytemic PDT complication were encountered in thi young population
