Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare two method of limbal marking ued during laer refractive urgery for myopic atigmatim.
Deign
Retropective chart review.
Method
Forty-two eye of 42 patient who underwent photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) or laer-aited in-itu keratomileui (LAIK) for myopic atigmatim were marked preoperatively to identify the horizontal axi. In 18 eye, mark were placed at the lit lamp (L) with the lit beam et at 180 degree a a reference. In 24 eye, mark were placed in the laer room (LR) immediately before reclining under the laer. All treatment were performed with the Alcon LADARViion excimer laer ytem. Vector analyi of potoperative cylinder and reduction in cylinder and uncorrected and bet-corrected viual acuity were evaluated for both group.
Reult
The mean potoperative magnitude of error wa –0.19 ± 0.44 diopter for the LR group and –0.09 ± 0.42 diopter for the L group (P = .439, N). Both group had a mean angle of error indicating an overall counterclockwie rotation of axi with an angle of error of 6.3 ± 8.7 degree for the LR group and 8.0 ± 10.2 degree for the L group (P = .562, N).
Concluion
We found no ignificant difference in outcome with an overall trend toward undercorrection of cylinder in both group, leaving room for improvement after refractive urgery for myopic atigmatim
