Natural Hitory of Aymptomatic Clinical Retinal Detachment

Purpoe To determine the natural hitory of aymptomatic, clinical rhegmatogenou retinal detachment. Deign ingle oberver, propective, conecutive, obervational cae erie. Method Conecutive patient were included who were referred to the author’ clinical practice with rhegmatogenou retinal detachment extending greater than two dik-diameter poterior to the equator. Patient whoe eye had an intraocular procedure within the pat year or who had a hitory of ymptomatic retinal detachment in the fellow eye were excluded. Eighteen eye of 16 patient were followed for an average of 46 month. The main outcome meaure wa progreion of aymptomatic retinal detachment to ymptomatic retinal detachment. Reult None of the 18 aymptomatic, clinical, rhegmatogenou retinal detachment became ymptomatic. The poterior margin of one retinal detachment lightly progreed 4 month into the tudy and then tabilized for 4 year and remained aymptomatic. Concluion Aymptomatic, clinical, rhegmatogenou retinal detachment can probably be afely oberved for many year.
