Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the functional reult of repeat penetrating keratoplaty in clear corneal graft with high/irregular potkeratoplaty atigmatim.
Deign
Retropective, longitudinal, ingle-center, conecutive clinical cae erie.
Method
We tudied 17 eye (16 keratoconu, 1 Fuch’ dytrophy) of 16 patient (age, 54.9 ± 12.6 year). They were treated with repeat PK, performed uing the 193-nm Zei-Meditec MEL-60 excimer laer uing round metal mak (diameter, 7.5–8.0 mm), and employing double running uture. main outcome meaure: ubjective refractometry, tandard keratometry, and corneal topography (Tomey TM-1) were ued to ae bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA), pherical equivalent (EQ), keratometric and topographic central corneal power (CP), refractive, keratometric and topographic atigmatim, urface regularity index (RI), urface aymmetry index (AI), and potential viual acuity (PVA) preoperatively, before and after firt uture removal (1.1 year), and after econd uture removal (1.8 year).
Reult
Viual acuity improved ignificantly (BCVA from 0.2–0.5, P = .04 or better) for all potoperative meaurement. CP decreaed ignificantly, but EQ did not change. All meaure of atigmatim and RI and AI value howed potoperative improvement with uture in place; however, atigmatim increaed ignificantly after econd uture removal.
Concluion
With all-uture-in, BCVA and atigmatim improve ignificantly after repeat PK for high/irregular atigmatim. However, to preent ignificant increae in atigmatim, final uture removal hould be potponed a long a poible in uch eye.
