Ue of urodex in Phacotrabeculectomy urgery

Purpoe To evaluate the ue of urodex (Oculex Pharmaceutical, unnyvale, California) a drug delivery ytem incorporating 60 microgram of dexamethaone in a pellet, in phacotrabeculectomy urgery. Deign Nonrandomized, propective, interventional cae erie. Method Phacotrabeculectomy wa performed on 37 Aian ubject with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) uing a tandardized technique. All ubject received a urodex pellet underneath the cleral flap. Reult were compared with thoe of 31 POAG ubject who had undergone phacotrabeculectomy augmented with 50 mg/ml of intraoperative 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) during the ame period. Reult Mean follow-up in month wa 19.7 ± 7.9 and 22.1 ± 6.2 for the urodex and 5-FU group, repectively (P = .29). There wa a 20.1% decreae in intraocular preure in the urodex group compared with 28.5% decreae in the 5-FU group (P = .6). Potoperative complication occurred in three cae (8.1%) and ix cae (19.3%), repectively (P = .04). Concluion Combined phacotrabeculectomy urgery augmented by intra-cleral placement of urodex reult in good control of IOP and a low incidence of complication.
