Abstract
Purpoe
To quantify the relation of blood preure (BP) and intraocular preure (IOP) acro the clinical range of BP in an older phakic population not uing glaucoma medication.
Deign
Cro-ectional population-baed tudy
Method
eated BP and applanation IOP were meaured, and their relation wa aeed in regreion model.
Reult
Mean IOP of the two eye increaed linearly from 14.3 mm Hg for ytolic BP <110 mm Hg to 17.7 mm Hg for ytolic BP ≥200 mm Hg, a 3.4-mm Hg excurion over thi range. Mean IOP alo increaed from 15.2 mm Hg for diatolic BP <70 to 18.4 mm Hg for diatolic BP ≥120, a imilar variance. There were no change after age and multivariate adjutment for IOP or after excluding undiagnoed glaucoma cae.
Concluion
A 3-mm linear IOP increae over the clinical pectrum of BP level wa evident; thi variance i greater than with mot other ytemic and ocular parameter.
