Abstract :
Purpoe To identify pecific feature during the proce of involution of retinopathy of prematurity after treatment at threhold that are aociated with development of a retinal detachment. Deign Retropective cae erie. Method The evolution of retinal detachment over time wa analyzed retropectively in 262 treated eye of 138 infant. pecific feature hypotheized to be aociated with development of a retinal detachment were analyzed, including vitreou organization defined a clinically important, active tage 3 dieae and active plu dieae more than 21 day after treatment, and vitreou hemorrhage defined a clinically important. Reult A retinal detachment developed in 36 (13.7%) of 262 eye. Vitreou organization meeting our clinically important definition wa aociated with a 31-fold (confidence interval [CI] 5.37–183.63; P < .0001) and 13-fold (CI 2.97–58.59; P < .0001) increae in the odd for retinal detachment for right and left eye, repectively. Vitreou hemorrhage defined a clinically important wa aociated with a 38-fold (CI 2.69–551.19; P = .007) and 15-fold (CI 1.65–144.12; P = .02) increae in the odd for retinal detachment for right and left eye, repectively. The timing of retinal detachment relative to vitreou hemorrhage wa not determined. Prolonged activity of tage 3 dieae or plu dieae more than 21 day after treatment wa not aociated with development of a retinal detachment. Concluion Clinically important vitreou organization and vitreou hemorrhage were predictive for development of a retinal detachment. Evaluation of preemptive reintervention trategie for eye at highet rik for developing a retinal detachment may be reaonable.
