pontaneou Rip of the Retinal Pigment Epithelium With a Macular Hole in Neovacular Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Purpoe To report a cae of retinal pigment epithelial tear aociated with a macular hole in a patient with neovacular age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Deign Obervational cae report. Method An 87-year-old woman with AMD-related fibrovacular pigment epithelial detachment aociated with viion lo wa followed with equential fundu photography, fluorecein angiography, and optical coherence tomography for 8 month. Reult The detachment developed into a retinal pigment epithelium tear with macular hole formation. The temporal evolution of the leion and optical coherence tomography finding uggeted that the retinal pigment epithelium tear led to tretching force along the poterior urface of the neuroenory retina with econdary foveal dehicence. Concluion Macular hole formation i one mechanim by which retinal pigment epithelium tear may caue viion lo in AMD.
