Abstract :
Purpoe
To meaure cleral thickne in patient with and without uveal effuion yndrome uing ultraound biomicrocopy (UBM) and magnetic reonance imaging (MRI).
Deign
Propective cae-control tudy.
Method
UBM wa ued to meaure cleral thickne in five ubject with uveal effuion yndrome and five matched control. We alo ued MRI to meaure cleral thickne in three ubject.
Reult
The mean thicknee for eye with uveal effuion yndrome veru control eye were 0.65 ± 0.08 mm and 0.55 ± 0.05 mm, repectively (mean difference 0.10, P value = .13). MRI meaurement of three ubject howed abnormally thick clera but were imprecie.
Concluion
UBM can be ued to meaure cleral thickne, and our reult upport the finding that patient with uveal effuion yndrome have abnormally thick clera. Compared with MRI, UBM may be a more accurate and precie method of meauring cleral thickne. UBM can be a ueful adjunctive tet in the management of uveal effuion yndrome.
