Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate vincritine and carboplatin with intenive focal treatment in the management of intraocular retinoblatoma.
Deign
Noncomparative, retropective interventional cae erie.
Method
etting: Intitutional. Patient population: ixteen patient (11 bilateral, 5 unilateral) with intraocular retinoblatoma. Interventional procedure: Patient were treated with eight coure of vincritine and carboplatin. Intenive focal treatment were adminitered after two coure of chemotherapy. Main outcome meaure: Avoidance of external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and eye urvival.
Reult
Twenty eye (74.1%) were claified a Reee-Ellworth Group V. All eye reponded to chemotherapy. With a median follow-up of 23 month (range 10 to 33 month) and a median of 5.5 focal treatment per eye (range 0 to 19 treatment), ocular urvival wa 81%. Eight eye (30%) in five patient received EBRT.
Concluion
Vincritine and carboplatin combined with intenive focal treatment i an effective regimen for patient with intraocular retinoblatoma. Thi treatment regimen ha outcome comparable to thoe of more toxic regimen and merit further evaluation.
