Abstract
Purpoe
To evaluate the effectivene and afety of tran-Tenon retrobulbar triamcinolone injection for macular edema aociated with branch retinal vein occluion (BRVO) after vitrectomy.
Deign
Propective interventional cae erie.
Method
The tudy included 20 eye of 20 patient with BRVO, characterized by macular edema lating more than 3 month after vitrectomy. Tran-Tenon retrobulbar injection of 40 mg triamcinolone wa performed, and viual and anatomic repone were evaluated.
Reult
Mean foveal thickne wa 499.4 ± 209.1 μm preoperatively, 281.8 ± 110.1 μm at 2-week follow-up, and 196.9 ± 92.1 μm at 6-month follow-up (P < .0001, at 2 week and 6 month, paired t tet). Improvement of viual acuity by at leat 0.2 logMAR (logarithm of the minimum angle of reolution) wa een in 14 (70%) of the 20 eye.
Concluion
Tran-Tenon retrobulbar injection of triamcinolone may be an alternative for additional treatment of eye with BRVO that remain after vitrectomy.
