Abstract :
Purpoe
To report the cae of a patient who experienced a penetrating ocular injury with direct intraocular injection of venom from a nakebite.
Deign
Cae report.
Method
A 34-year-old man wa bitten by a nake on hi right eye. The nake wa identified a Deinagkitrodon acutu. Antivenom wa provided, but facial welling, periorbital ecchymoe, maive ubconjunctival hemorrhage, evere corneal edema, and exophthalmo of the right eye were noted. Dypnea due to airway edema then developed.
Reult
He received emergent intubation. Eviceration wa performed, and a continuouly active bleeding cleral wound wa found. No local infection developed under ytemic and topical antibiotic. Pathologic examination of the excied cornea howed necroi on the endothelial ide.
Concluion
Early eviceration wa the treatment of choice for treatment of a penetrating ocular injury caued by venomou nakebite. Maintaining table life ign and prevention of infection remained the major concern.
