Abstract :
Purpoe
To report ucceful treatment of exogenou Fuarium and Apergillu endophthalmiti with new antifungal agent.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
Treatment of two cae i reviewed.
Reult
A 64-year-old man developed pot-cataract Fuarium moniliforme endophthalmiti. Infection perited depite removal of the intraocular len, three vitrectomie, and five intravitreal injection of amphotericin. Inflammation reolved and viion improved from 20/80 to 20/40 on 6 month of oral voriconazole. A 55-year-old man developed pot-cataract intraocular inflammation. After three vitrectomie and removal of the intraocular len, Apergillu fumigatu endophthalmiti wa diagnoed. Intravitreal amphotericin and ytemic voriconazole were given, but one week later there were early ign of recurrence. Intravenou capofungin wa added and the eye improved. Capofungin wa continued for 6 week and voriconazole for 6 month. Viion improved from counting finger to 20/80 at 6 month and 20/25 at 23 month.
Concluion
Voriconazole i a promiing new therapy for Fuarium and Apergillu endophthalmiti. Capofungin may act ynergitically with voriconazole in treating Apergillu endophthalmiti.
