Change in Retinal Pigment Epithelium After Indocyanine Green–Aited Internal Limiting Lamina Peeling During Macular Hole urgery

Purpoe To determine the change in the retinal pigment epithelium (retinal pigment epithelium) and econdary change in the choroid and fovea after indocyanine green (ICG) taining of the internal limiting lamina during urgery for an idiopathic macular hole (MH). Deign Obervational cae erie. Method The medical chart of 31 patient who underwent MH urgical procedure with internal limiting lamina taining and peeling were reviewed. The eye were examined by optical coherence tomography, canning laer ophthalmocopy, fluorecein, and ICG angiography. Reult In three cae that experienced retinal pigment epithelium change, there wa foveal thinning and choriocapillary atrophy in the area of the previou MH. The viual acuity wa markedly wore, and the retina wa markedly thinner in thee three cae than in the other cae without retinal pigment epithelium change (P = .003, P = .009, repectively). Concluion The ue of ICG dye with illumination may increae the rik of retinal pigment epithelium damage and econdary choroidal and foveal morphologic change
