Abstract
Purpoe
To invetigate outcome of phacoemulification in eye with functioning Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (AGV).
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
We reviewed record of 19 patient (23 eye) who had a clear-cornea phacoemulification ≥3 month after inertion of an AGV between 1997 and 2002. The main outcome meaure were intraocular preure (IOP) control, number of medication, complication, and further glaucoma urgery.
Reult
The median interval between AGV urgery and phacoemulification wa 0.7 year with an average (±D) follow-up time of 1.6 (±0.6) year (range: 0.9 to 3.0 year). Four eye (17%) had an IOP increae >10 mm Hg on day one. The mean IOP or number of medication did not ignificantly change after phacoemulification at one month or thereafter (P > .05). One eye (4%) required a econd AGV.
Concluion
mall-inciion cataract urgery i conitent with maintenance of IOP control in eye with functioning AGV. A minority of the eye will require repeat glaucoma urgery.
