Hitopathologic Examination of Conjunctival Tophi in Gouty Arthriti

Purpoe To report a cae of conjunctival tophi in a 59-year-old woman with gouty arthriti. Deign Obervational cae report. Method A 59-year-old woman with a 25-year hitory of evere gouty arthriti preented with bilateral chalky white conjunctival depoit. Conjunctival biopie were obtained, and light and electron microcopy tudie were performed. Reult Light microcopy confirmed multiple gouty tophi. Tranmiion electron microcopy revealed intracytoplamic crytalline depoit within hitiocyte. Extracellular aggregate of the crytalline depoit were encloed by membranou material. Concluion Conjunctival crytal may aid in identifying undiagnoed patient. In addition to conjunctival tophi, patient may alo have uveiti, corneal crytal, and band keratopathy.
