Abstract :
Purpoe
To invetigate the involvement of angiotenin-converting enzyme (ACE) with angiogenic factor, vacular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and matrix metalloproteinae (MMP)-9 in the vitreou of eye with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
Angiotenin-conerting enzyme activity in the vitreou wa meaured by uing a ynthetic ubtrate for ACE. VEGF and MMP-9 concentration were determined by enzyme-linked immunoorbent aay.
Reult
Vitreou ACE activity wa ignificantly higher in eye with PDR (1.4 ± 1.3 mU/ml) than in eye with macular hole (0.22 ± 0.11 mU/ml). Vitreou VEGF concentration in the eye with PDR (1067 ± 1076 pg/ml) wa ignificantly higher than in eye with macular hole (34 ± 5.5 pg/ml). Vitreou MMP-9 concentration wa alo ignificantly higher in eye with PDR (7.5 ± 3.8 ng/ml) than in eye with macular hole (4.2 ± 1.4 ng/ml). ignificant correlation between ACE and VEGF (P < .01) and between ACE and MMP-9 (P < .01) were oberved in the vitreou of eye with PDR.
Concluion
Angiotenin-converting enzyme wa ignificantly correlated with angiogenic factor, VEGF and MMP-9, in the vitreou of eye with PDR.
